A labor of love, built for Kraken fans

Sound Of Hockey is a labor of love. We do this because we love the sport, we love talking and writing about it, and we love that Seattle finally has an NHL team to call our own.

The story of how SOH came to be is tied directly to the grassroots NHLtoSeattle movement — a decade-plus effort led by our own John Barr to bring a team to the Pacific Northwest. After years of rallying the local hockey community, it became clear the NHL was finally coming to the Emerald City. Around that time, John and Darren Brown started talking about launching a hockey podcast. They brought in John's friend Andy Eide, and the three of them set out to build the best hockey podcast in the region.

Once the Seattle Kraken were officially on the way, the team rebranded John's existing site, NHLtoSeattle.com, into SoundOfHockey.com — and the SOH brand has been growing ever since, evolving into a trusted source for Kraken news and analysis.

Andy passed away during the 2022-23 season, and he's still missed by everyone who knew him and everyone who listened. Curtis Isacke joined the podcast as a co-host in the seasons that followed, Blaiz Grubic came on as a contributor, and Cameron Riggers eventually joined the team as well.
