Monday Musings: The struggle bus
There’s no sugarcoating it—the Seattle Kraken are struggling right now. After scoring eight goals against the Montreal Canadiens last Tuesday, the Kraken have managed just one goal in their last three games, all losses to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, and...
Three Takeaways – Kraken get shut out for second day in a row, 2-0 to Bruins
One day after a rough start and an ugly loss in Ottawa, the Seattle Kraken once again appeared unprepared and stumbled to a 2-0 loss to the Boston Bruins. For the second straight day, the Kraken failed to register a goal, yet somehow again remained (sort of) in the...
Seattle Kraken: Strive for 95 (points) November update
November has arrived, marking time for an update on the Strive for 95 points target. The 95-point benchmark carries weight: over the last 10 full NHL seasons, teams reaching 95 points have qualified for the playoffs 80 percent of the time. With the Kraken aiming for a...

Three Takeaways – Kraken struggle against elite offense of Maple Leafs, lose 4-1
Sometimes an easy win does not breed ongoing success. After the Seattle Kraken rolled to an 8-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday, I couldn’t help but wonder how they would handle the elite offensive prowess of the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday. Lo and...

Like many hockey players, one of my favorite hobbies away from the rink is golf. Sometimes I golf (relatively) well (for me), and sometimes I play terribly, but there’s no predicting how I’m going to play on a given day, and it doesn’t seem like anything I do prior to...

Three Takeaways – Montour scores hat trick, Kraken roll over Canadiens 8-2
The Seattle Kraken scored early, often, and in a variety of ways Tuesday, hanging a crooked 8-2 score on the Montreal Canadiens, embarrassing them in their building and getting the road trip off on an extremely positive note. The big score brought with it some massive...
Unlocking Shane Wright: A deep dive into his game
At just 20 years old, Shane Wright has earned a spot on the Seattle Kraken roster. The young center’s journey to the NHL has been anything but conventional, highlighted by his exceptional status in the OHL, a missed year due to the pandemic, and stints across the NHL,...
Monday Musings: Looking for Kraken insights
The Kraken wrapped up a five-game homestand with a 4-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday, a game that could arguably be considered their worst of the season. Until that game, the Kraken had been competitive in every game, even when outplayed. Carolina is a...

Three Takeaways – Beniers scores twice and Kraken rally back, but Jets win in OT
It wasn’t the outcome Kraken fans would have wanted, but the team showed resiliency Thursday by coming back to snag a point from the Winnipeg Jets, the last remaining undefeated team in the NHL. Despite playing the entire first period on their toes and even having...
