It’s a gigantic (and slightly tipsy) episode of Sound of Hockey this week, as the guys ended up recording the bulk of the episode following some post-SeaHAC college sodas… See if you can figure out who had the most!

From Alison, John and Darren learn how she uses that analytical approach to tell her story, while still connecting with a broad hockey audience, and even how she uses her knowledge to connect with John Tortorella. It happened again! Don Cherry is really mad that the Carolina Hurricanes are having fun, and Sound of Hockey is here to analyze his antiquated analysis.
In Episode 24, Andy gives a robust update on the WHL, where everybody is kung fu fighting these days. John also shares some recent speculation about how the Maple Leafs’ roster in 2021 could factor into the Seattle expansion draft, and pulls some data on American-born hockey players and how their numbers are trending in the NHL. Darren shares some of the latest NHL trades, and together, the guys break down those deals.
Plus, our lovable hosts play a very literal game of Buy, Sell, or Hold (in which they determine if certain teams should be buyers at the upcoming trade deadline), before moving into Weekly One-Timers, featuring some interesting news out of Edmonton and Cory Schneider finally winning a game.
They close out the show with “You Don’t See That Every Day” and “Games on the Radar.”

The guys get a little bit ranty in Episode 22, in which they discuss a variety of hot-button issues (specifically Pierre McGuire’s cringeworthy introduction of Kendall Coyle Schofield on NBC Sports and a lack of current hockey coverage by mainstream media in the Seattle market). Don’t worry, they do manage to keep their pants on, unlike a certain hockey player that wore #22 and a certain cartoon duck.
John, Andy, and Darren break down some of the latest news from NHL Seattle, with the most noteworthy item being the naming of an AHL affiliate franchise apparently on the near horizon. They also analyze the blockbuster trades that sent Jake Muzzin to the Toronto Maple Leafs and Nick Bjugstad to the Pittsburgh Penguins, and share some of the chatter regarding additional high-profile trade targets at the upcoming deadline.

HUMONGOUS EPISODE!
It’s Episode 21 of Sound of Hockey (meaning the guys can finally enjoy a cold beer while recording!), and NHL.com‘s Nick Cotsonika returns for a very fun interview.
This show goes a little more in depth with Nick than the version a couple months ago, when Andy and Darren were shouting at him in a packed Henry’s Tavern. This time, Nick gets grilled about his experience at the All-Star Game and his feelings on the Jake Muzzin trade and Peter Chiarelli firing. He shares some awesome Scotty Bowman stories from his time covering the Detroit Red Wings, and also lets us in on his pick for Seattle (or maybe Edmonton?) GM. Oh, and he is of course put to the test in a challenging game of Buy, Sell, or Hold.
Also in this episode, the fellas talk about the new technology displayed at the ASG and its potential, run through LOTS of solid Weekly One-Timers, and break down another… breakdown… in “You Don’t See That Every Day.”
